Terveisiä Göttingenistä - Greetings from Goettingen

Lähestulkoon kaksi viikkoa Göttingenin kaupungissa melkoisen keskellä Saksaa hurahti vauhdikkaasti eikä ohjelmasta ollut pulaa. Silti ehdin hiukan neulomaankin, ja itsevärjätyistä seiskaveikoista tuli synttärisukat syys-Knittyn Back to Basics -ohjeella. Toivottavasti saan muutaman, sillä sukista tuli varsin kivat. Zikzak-sukatkin valmistui vihdoin, taitaa mennä lahjaksi nekin.

A spent last couple of weeks in Gottingen, a small and beuatiful city in the middle of Germany. Apart from having my time well organized the whole time, I amazingly also found some time for knitting. And see, Back to Basics-socks from Knitty Fall 07 and self-dyed yarn are ready. No pictures because the socks were a birthday present for a friend and we celebrated her birthday yesterday right after I was back in Berlin. But maybe I'll get some pics from her, because they got pretty nice, I must say. Zikzak-socks are also ready, finally! They'll be a present as well, I think.

10%: 7860g - 67g - 118 g = 7675g

P.S. Tuosta luvusta puuttuvat viimekertaiset SNY -langat sekä Göttingenin lankakauppakierroksen tulos. Göttingenin lankakaupoista lisää ensi kerralla!

P.S. That number of yarn-diet is missing the yarn I got from my finnish secret pal and those I found in Gottingen. More about the yarn shops of Gottingen next time!

Postia salaiselta ystävältä - finnish secret pal package

Hiphei!

Näyttää vielä aika harvalta pesun+pingotuksen jälkeenkin (puikot 3mm) täytynee kokeilla 2,5mm puikkoja vaikka oikeastaan Secret of Chrysopolis:een suositellaan 3,5mm puikkoja saman paksuiselle langalle.

Hurrah! The september package from finnish secret pal found its way to my door in only two days - it must be a new record. And its good to be working home when the post arrives, I don't have to go to the post office to pick it up. I got Wetterhoff's 100% wool, red-to-blue spectrum of Kool-Aids to dye it, chocolate (I like it this dark, yam) and a letter. Thank you, secret pal, it's wonderful! She (or he, but I assume she) sent me a package in August as well, but since I was in the Alps the post sent it back to Finland and lost it (hopefully not for ever..). But I'm still hoping it's just making a tour around the world and then comes back to me.

Other things: busy busy busy + no time to knit + working trips and deadlines coming too soon.. Last week I had time to go to a knitting meeting with some other
Berliners (thanks AnneV for creating the contact). So I saw those beautiful shawls too. And a week-or-so ago I got my Evilla lace weight yarns (+ Colinette Jitterbut, loving it) and tried to make a swatch with 3mm needles but somehow I'm not quite satisfied with the way it turned out. It seems so.. full of holes.. or maybe it's just that it's lace.. Maybe I'll make another one with smaller needles, although even larger ones were recommended for the Secret of Chrystopolis-pattern.. I'm not sure, since it's my first try with lace ever. Hints, anyone?
